My solicitor suggested I should speak with a “friendly” insolvency practitioner about a problem debtor who had been stringing me along and who, we then discovered, was a company which was being fronted by an undischarged bankrupt. I could never have imagined that there was such a thing as a friendly IP.
I’m delighted to report that there is – and I’m very pleased to have called Peter Windatt at BRI Business Recovery and Insolvency.
Peter was reluctant to do anything formally as he felt that “too many cooks” would not help. However, he called the incumbent IP on my behalf and helped us to make sense of what was going on. He then asked some questions which led to me checking my own business insurance which, to my delight, now means my lawyers costs will be paid for me and I’m not so worried that I am simply throwing good money after bad.
But I have to say, throughout the whole stressful process, Peter has been a complete rock, he has kept me sane and also kept a smile on my face. Bankruptcy is a complete mine field for the uninitiated (like me) and I’m sure many small businesses will say the same. So having such an experienced professional in my corner at a difficult time has really encouraged me to keep fighting.
Oh, and when BRI say that they provide the right advice irrespective of the fee outcome for themselves I’m pleased to be able to report that this is true too!
